Lida Africa was privileged to participate in the 2019 United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) Evaluation Week with the theme “Evaluating in the SDG era”. Hosted by United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) Evaluation Week 2019 was held from 13-17 May 2019 at United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) Compound in Nairobi, Kenya.
The UNEG Evaluation Week 2019 opened with five (5) one-day Professional Development Seminar (PDS) on Monday 13 May 2019, followed by Evaluation Practice Exchange (EPE), Tuesday 14 – Wednesday 15 May 2019 and the Annual General Meeting, Thursday 16 May – Friday 17 May 2019.
Lida Africa conducted a Professional Development Seminar (PDS) on the use of Qualitative Data Analysis Software in Evaluations with a special focus on NVIVO Software. The PDS attracted 20 UNEG delegates from 11 UN agencies. More females (14) than males (6) attended. Various countries were represented at this seminar as indicated in the figure.
The workshop employed a participatory – hands on approach. Lida Africa provided NVIVO trial version software, qualitative datasets, and other materials to delegates. The session was delivered through a step-by-step process for using NVIVO software for conducting qualitative data analysis. The session started with a discussion about the fundamentals of qualitative data, then the installation of NVIVO, followed by the basics of the software, coding, classification and analysis, and visualization. Participants with great skills in conducting qualitative data analysis shared lessons with others which enriched the seminar.
Lida Africa extends special thanks to the United Nations Evaluation Group for the opportunity to share knowledge.
